The Public Safety agencies in Eagle County and surrounding areas will be participating in a full-scale emergency preparedness/response exercise on Tuesday, October 14 and Wednesday, October 15, 2014. A full scale exercise is a lengthy exercise which takes place on location, using all necessary resources to the extent possible¾the equipment and personnel and time frames that would be involved if it were a real event.
Participating agencies will be exercising their ability to respond to mock scenarios using the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships as a backdrop. Individuals throughout the county can expect to see an increase in emergency responders during this timeframe. Citizens may also receive test emergency messaging via ECAlert during the exercise.
More than 200 local emergency responders will participate in the exercise, which will stretch over two full days. This exercise is being orchestrated to test real-time emergency response coordination efforts between multiple agencies and to increasing safety and security during the event. During the exercise, agencies will be focusing on evacuation procedures, public warning and public information, resource ordering and incident management.
For the last 5 years several preparation meetings and training’s have been conducted in order to test the emergency response coordination for all participating agencies.
