CDOT to hold open house on Edwards intersection upgrades

The Colorado Department of Transportation and Eagle County Government will host a public open house next week on the planning and design process for phase II of the I-70 interchange upgrade project in Edwards, including the main Edwards intersection of the Edwards Spur Road and U.S. Highway 6.

CDOT logoThe meeting will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Miller Ranch Community Center, located at 25 Mill Loft Street in Edwards. Those interested may attend at any time; no formal presentation will be given.

The project will encompasses roadway improvements along the Edwards Spur Road from Miller Ranch Road to U.S. Hwy 6, including the intersection. Open house attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the project background; the draft context statement, purpose, needs, and goals; the environmental process; the project schedule; and future opportunities to give input. Representatives from CDOT, Eagle County and the project team will be on hand to answer questions and listen to suggestions and concerns.

The planning and design for phase II is being funded by CDOT, Eagle County and the Edwards Community Authority. The evaluation of alternatives is anticipated to be complete by spring of 2016. Environmental documentation and final design are expected by early 2018. Full funding for construction of the project has not yet been identified.
