A series of emailed bomb threats had local law enforcement and school officials in full-on response mode Thursday, although no bombs were found and it was determined no credible threat existed. Here’s the press release from the Eagle County Sheriff’s office:

On Thursday, December 13, 2018, law enforcement agencies throughout Eagle County responded to multiple reports of emails received containing a bomb threat. Officials responded to the threats per trained protocol with the community’s safety as a top priority. Following the investigation of all reports, it was determined that no credible threats existed.

Local officials and law enforcement agencies are asking the community to please remain vigilant if you receive the latest ‘Bomb Threat’ email that is being reported across the county, the state and the nation.  Please call 911 to report bomb threats being received locally. Law enforcement agencies will continue to investigate threats as needed. There is no need to evacuate unless you feel unsafe or are asked to do so by law enforcement.

If you notice anything suspicious or out of place, please notify authorities by calling 911 so that law enforcement can respond accordingly.  Reports are continuing to come in from individuals and businesses who are receiving emails containing bomb threats.  Due to the large volume of reports, local officials will appropriately scale response based on the evaluation of the threats received.

And here’s the press release from the Eagle County School District:

At around 11:45 a.m., local first responders began receiving multiple bomb threats in the Avon and Beaver Creek areas. Although none of our school were impacted, we closely monitored the situation through our association with county-wide public information officers.

It was not necessary to interrupt the daily academic or transportation schedules at any of our schools. We coordinated with security at Vail Resorts to ensure the safety of students participating in Learn to Ski at Beaver Creek.

While local law enforcement reports individuals and businesses continue to receive threatening emails, no devices have been found in any of their sweeps. If you receive such an email, please call 911 and follow the instructions of the dispatcher.

With no imminent threat to our schools, we anticipate a normal schedule for transportation and activities. Please go to our Facebook page or website to receive more information.
