Wednesday’s firing of Attorney General Jeff Sessions by President Donald Trump has sparked “Emergency National Protests” Thursday in 900 cities around the nation, including right here in Edwards at 5 p.m. at the intersection of the Edwards Spur Road and U.S. Highway 6.

Protests planned by the moveon.org group Nobody is Above the Law will also be held in Denver and across the country, according to 9News.

Using the hashtag #NotAboveTheLaw, Eagle County organizers Cathy Grabowsky and Debbie Marquez say they are protesting any move by the Trump administration and newly appointed interim AG Matthew Whitaker, largely viewed as a Trump loyalist, to fire special counsel Robert Mueller, who’s conducting an investigation into coordination and obstruction by Trump officials with the Russian government during the 2016 presidential election.

“We call on Rep. [Jared] Polis and Rep. [Scott] Tipton and Sens. [Michael] Bennet and [Cory] Gardner to do everything in their power to prevent President Donald Trump from firing special counsel Robert Mueller,” Marquez said in a media advisory.

“Americans deserve full and truthful answers to ensure the security and sanctity of our election system is never compromised again. We can only do that with a full, thorough investigation, free from interference.”
