Vail closing on high note with nearly 2,000 acres, fresh weekend snow

Vail will offer nearly 2,000 skiable acres of terrain through closing day on Sunday, April 19, and some of the remaining few days of snow riding may actually involve fresh powder up high.

Opensnow.com is calling for a chance of new snow Wednesday through Friday this week, followed by another possible storm on Sunday. Beaver Creek closed for the season last weekend.

Here’s a press release from Vail last week announcing terrain and lift operations for closing week, including the end-of-season Spring Back to Vail celebration:

VAIL, Colo. – April 10, 2015 – For the final week of the 2014-2015 winter season at Vail Mountain, one of the largest ski resorts in the world, the resort plans to offer more than 1,900 acres of developed ski and snowboard terrain for guests.

Beginning Monday, April 13, the following lifts are expected to operate for the remainder of the season:

• Gondola One;
• Eagle Bahn Gondola;
• Avanti Express Lift (#2);
• Wildwood Express Lift (#3);
• Mountaintop Express Lift (#4);
• High Noon Express Lift (#5);
• Riva Bahn Express Lift (#6);
• Northwoods Express Lift (#11); and
• Little Eagle Lift (#15)

Spring conditions exist and skiers and snowboarders are reminded to obey all posted closures and observe the Colorado Ski Safety Act and Your Responsibility Code for their safety and the safety of other guests. All on-mountain closures and schedule modifications are subject to change based on snow and weather conditions.

Vail Ski & Snowboard School

The Vail Ski & Snowboard School will continue to operate from its Vail Village and Lionshead locations through Sunday, April 19. The Vail Nordic School, Adaptive Center, and Small World Nursery in Golden Peak will remain open through Sunday, April 19.

On-Mountain Dining

Daytime dining at The 10^th, Buffalo’s, the Look Ma level of Mid-Vail, the Marketplace at Eagle’s Nest and Express Lift at Mountain Plaza will be available to skiers and snowboarders through closing day, Sunday, April 19.

Spring Back to Vail

Spring Back to Vail returns April 17–19, 2015 with free live music from Portugal. The Man, Trampled By Turtles, and The Greyboy Allstars.
