Vail police are seeking help solving an assault case early New Year’s Day in Vail Village. Here’s the press release:
At approximately 1:40 a.m. on Jan. 1, the Vail Police Department responded to an assault that occurred in the 200 block of E. Meadow Drive in front of Pazzo’s Pizzeria in Vail Village.
Officers found a 24-year-old male, unconscious with head trauma, who was later transferred to a Denver area hospital for advanced care. Circumstances surrounding the assault and offenders is unknown at this time.

Vail Police are releasing surveillance photos tied to a New Year’s Day assault that could assist in identifying three witnesses. The photos were downloaded from multiple surveillance cameras in the area before, during and after the assault.
Police responded at approximately 1:39 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1 to investigate the report of an assault that occurred near the 150 block of East Meadow Drive, adjacent to the Village Center complex. Officers found a 23-year-old male, unconscious and lying in the roadway. Vail Fire and Emergency Services along with Eagle County Paramedic Services were requested by officers on scene. The male was stabilized at Vail Health, before being transported to a Denver-metro hospital with serious injuries.
The Vail Police Department is attempting to identify the witnesses in the surveillance photos to assist with the investigation. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact Detective Randy Braucht 970-479-2339. Tips can also be submitted electronically to rbraucht@vailgov.com.
